The knight who thinks chivalry is ridiculous, says so, and is liked for it.
Dinadan is the Morte's one sceptic. He mocks the conventions out loud — declines fights he considers pointless, questions why anyone would suffer for love, writes a satirical song about King Mark and has it sung to his face — and the book plainly enjoys him. Mark has him murdered. In a book about men who take everything with total seriousness, Dinadan is the standing reminder that somebody could see it differently.
