Sonnet 135

The Dark Lady: Desire

  1. 1 Whoever hath her wish, thou hast thy 'Will,'
  2. 2 And 'Will' to boot, and 'Will' in over-plus;
  3. 3 More than enough am I that vex'd thee still,
  4. 4 To thy sweet will making addition thus.
  5. 5 Wilt thou, whose will is large and spacious,
  6. 6 Not once vouchsafe to hide my will in thine?
  7. 7 Shall will in others seem right gracious,
  8. 8 And in my will no fair acceptance shine?
  9. 9 The sea, all water, yet receives rain still,
  10. 10 And in abundance addeth to his store;
  11. 11 So thou, being rich in 'Will,' add to thy 'Will'
  12. 12 One will of mine, to make thy large will more.
  13. 13 Let no unkind 'No' fair beseechers kill;
  14. 14 Think all but one, and me in that one 'Will.'
