Act 5, Scene 2

France. Plains in Anjou.

  1. [Enter Charles, Burgundy, Alencon, Bastard, Reignier, La Pucelle, and forces.]
  2. Charles, the Dauphin
  3. 2209 These news, my lords, may cheer our drooping spirits:
  4. 2210 'Tis said the stout Parisians do revolt
  5. 2211 And turn again unto the warlike French.
  6. Duke of Alencon
  7. 2212 Then march to Paris, royal Charles of France,
  8. 2213 And keep not back your powers in dalliance.
  9. Joan la Pucelle
  10. 2214 Peace be amongst them, if they turn to us;
  11. 2215 Else, ruin combat with their palaces!
  12. [Enter Scout.]
  13. Scout
  14. 2216 Success unto our valiant general,
  15. 2217 And happiness to his accomplices!
  16. Charles, the Dauphin
  17. 2218 What tidings send our scouts? I prithee, speak.
  18. Scout
  19. 2219 The English army, that divided was
  20. 2220 Into two parties, is now conjoin'd in one,
  21. 2221 And means to give you battle presently.
  22. Charles, the Dauphin
  23. 2222 Somewhat too sudden, sirs, the warning is;
  24. 2223 But we will presently provide for them.
  25. Duke of Burgundy
  26. 2224 I trust the ghost of Talbot is not there:
  27. 2225 Now he is gone, my lord, you need not fear.
  28. Joan la Pucelle
  29. 2226 Of all base passions, fear is most accursed.
  30. 2227 Command the conquest, Charles, it shall be thine,
  31. 2228 Let Henry fret and all the world repine.
  32. Charles, the Dauphin
  33. 2229 Then on, my lords; and France be fortunate!
  34. [Exeunt.]
